Ex-bank official found dead in Gazipur

A retired Sonali Bank official was found dead at a hospital in Gazipur after family brought him there citing stroke early Saturday.

Family members brought Gias Uddin Khan, 62, a retired official of Sonali Bank Ltd, to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital around 1:00am saying he had suffered a stroke, said hospital sources.

Upon his arrival, he was declared dead, added the sources.

On information, police came in and sent the body, which bore several injury marks, to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Meanwhile, relatives claimed that Gias Uddin was beaten and strangled to death by his wife and son at their residence at Baruda in Joydebpur of the city.

The same suspicion (of Gias’s killing by family members) also occurred to police.

Police also arrested the wife, Jahanara Begum,45, the son, Shahriar Khan Manik, 26, and Jahanara’s sister Parveen, 38, suspecting them to have killed Gias Uddin.
