SC to hear Khaleda's Niko plea Oct 31
The Supreme Court yesterday fixed October 31 for hearing a leave to appeal petition filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia seeking a stay in the trial proceeding of Niko corruption case against her.
Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Hasan Foyez Siddique fixed the date after Khaleda's lawyer AJ Mohammad Ali prayed for fixing a date.
The ACC filed the case in December 2007, accusing Khaleda and several others of abusing power to award a gas exploration and extraction deal to Canadian company Niko when she was the prime minister between 2001 and 2006.
