Wari to be locked down from July 4
Parts of Wari in Old Dhaka is set to be locked down from July 4, authorities said yesterday.
Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh made the announcement at Nagar Bhaban, after holding a coordination committee meeting .
The areas which will be under complete lockdown from 6am on Saturday are Tipu Sultan Road, Jahangir Road, Dhaka-Sylhet highway (Joykali Mondir to Boldha garden), Lalmini Road, Hore Road, War Road, Rankin Road and Nowab Road under ward- 41.
Taposh said there are 46 infected coronavirus patient at the areas, and they hope the number will come down to zero after the lockdown.
The mayor said they will follow the experience of Razabazar, to make it successful.
He added that people will be able to get food through e-commerce services, and DSCC will also distribute food to poor if necessary.
Taposh said they will ensure treatment facilities for Covid-19 patients; Mohanagor Hospital of DSCC will be used as an isolation centre.
All entrances except two will remain closed, and law enforcing agencies volunteers will work to execute the plan.
He said they will make residents of the areas aware about the lockdown in the next three days through loudspeaker.
He added they are going for the complete lockdown in the areas, after receiving a letter from LGRD ministry yesterday.
Earlier, Directorate General of Health Services identified 28 areas of DSCC and 17 areas of DNCC as red zones.
Two mayors of Dhaka asked DGHS to provide them specific zoning maps before going for complete lockdown at an a area.
