Two boys killed in road accidents

Two boys were killed in road accidents in two districts yesterday, according to reports from our correspondents.

In Joypurhat, a sixth-grader was killed after a truck hit him on Joypurhat-Dhamuirhat road in the town’s Khanzanpur area.

The deceased -- Tasnimul Islam, 13, son of Bellal Hossain from town’s Adarshapara area – was a student of Khanzanpur High School.

Protesting the incident, students of the school blocked the road for an hour.

In Kurigram, another boy was killed after a bus hit him on Kurigram-Bhurungamari highway at RDRS Square in Nageswari upazila.

The deceased was identified as Rayhan Kabir, 10, son of Shahidul Islam from Banurkhamar village in Nageswari municipality.

Police said Rayhan died on the spot. Similar protest was held on the highway, disrupting traffic for one and half hours.

The driver managed to escape. Police seized the vehicle, said Rawshan Kabir, officer-in-charge of Nageswari Police Station.
