Students block Dhaka-M’singh Highway over peer’s death

Students of Tongi City College yesterday blocked Dhaka-Mymensingh highway for around half an hour yesterday, protesting the death of one of their peers in road accident.

The deceased was identified as Habibur Rahman, 18, a student of the college.

Police said Habibur sustained severe injuries when a speeding bus hit him on Tuesday morning when he was going to college.

He was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries yesterday afternoon.

When the news of his death spread, students of the college blocked the road near Tongi from 5pm for half an hour, said Kazi Newaz, sub-inspector of Tongi Poschim Police Station.
