SCC starts cleaning drive
Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) started a special month-long cleaning drive yesterday morning.
A procession, led by SCC Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, starting from Nagar Bhaban in Bandarbazar area, was brought out on the occasion.
The mayor inaugurated the drive by cleaning the Shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) and surrounding areas.
Shahab Uddin Sihab, public relations officer of SCC said, “620 workers including 250 regular cleaners of the corporation will be conducting the drive throughout the month.”
Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury said, “Mosquito spray is useless if we keep our city unclean. All parts of the city will be cleaned and then we will start special drive against mosquito menace.”
He also urged all responsible citizens, organisations and students to come forward and join the drive.
