Road crashes kill three, injure 22
Two people were killed and two others were injured when a train hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at an unmanned level crossing in Rasulpur area of Sadar upazila yesterday, reports our Tangail correspondent.
Auto-rickshaw driver Kawsar Ahmed, 42; and passenger Rekha Talukder, 40 -- died on the spot, said Jalal Uddin, station master at Gharinda Railway Station.
The injured -- Pinki Chakrabarty and her son Miladri Chakrabarty -- were taken to Tangail General Hospital.
At least 20 people were injured as a bus overturned in Barguna yesterday, reports our Patuakhali correspondent.
The accident occurred as the bus skidded off a road while it was passing over a speed breaker at Ghotkhali in Amtali upazila, said police.
Alauddin Milon, officer-in-charge of Amtali Police Station, said the bus of “Sakura Paribahan” was going to Dhaka from Kuakata with a total of 50 passengers aboard.
On information from locals, police and firefighters rushed to the spot and took the injured to Amtali Upazila Health Complex.
Of them, four persons -- Amena Begum, 60, Jabed Ali, 50, Nahid, 70, and Saidul, 45 -- were transferred to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. They all are from different areas in Kuakata.
Our staff correspondent from Chattogram adds, a motorcyclist died as his bike was hit by a truck in Hathazari upazila yesterday morning.
Mosharraf Hossain Rubel, 35, from Dewan Nagar area, was declared dead at Hathazari Upazila Health Complex, said police.
Police seized the truck but the driver managed to flee.
