Raid in casino: Khalid expelled from Jubo league

Jubo League has expelled its Dhaka South Organising Secretary Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan, who was placed on remand in two cases yesterday, for his alleged involvement in unethical activities including breaching the party’s discipline.

Mizanul Islam Mizu, education, training and library secretary of the Jubo League, confirmed it to The Daily Star.

“Khalid was expelled for breaching organisation’s discipline and involvement in unsocial activities,” Mizu said.

A letter signed by Jubo League Chairman Omar Faruk Chowdhury was issued in this regard, today, a source at the ruling Awami League’s youth wing, Jubo League, told The Daily Star.

Rab arrested Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan for running a “casino business” in Fakirerpool area of Dhaka on Wednesday.

Khalid, also president of the Young Men’s Club, was placed on a seven-day remand yesterday.

In a fresh raid, Rab busted a torture cell that he allegedly run in a building near Kamalapur Railway Station early yesterday. They also recovered different tools for torture, including two machines to apply electric shock and five sticks.

Rab officials said Khalid used the cell to torture people who refused to give him money as per his demand.

Visiting the “Motijheel Club Para” area yesterday, Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club and Dhaka Wanderers Club were seen sealed off while four others were found locked.
