Police still in the dark after 4 days
Although four days have passed, police are yet to find any lead regarding the murder of Sheikh Farid Alom, 32, who was killed by masked criminals in Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka on Thursday.
Alom used to drive rented microbuses for different sub-inspectors of Dhamrai Police Station for the last couple of months. He was killed near his house in Chandkhali area when he was returning home from the police station around 12am, said investigators.
Kamal Hossen, inspector (investigation) of Dhamrai Police Station and investigation officer of the case filed by the victim’s wife, said they are trying to find clues regarding the incident.
“We are hoping that we will be able to find out the motive behind the murder very soon. Two of our teams are working on it,” said Inspector Kamal.
Meanwhile, Farid’s family members claimed that he called them on the day of the incident and said that criminals abducted him and instructed them to bring money.
When the family members rushed to the spot with the money, minutes after receiving the phone call, they saw two masked men holding knives, said Farid’s father Shahjahan Miah.
After the criminals spotted them, they threatened the family members, telling them to go away, he added.
Later, they found Alom beside the road, senseless and tied up with multiple stab injuries.
Farid could not say anything about the perpetrators as he lost his life soon after his father and wife rushed to the spot, Shahjahan added.
