Missing teenager found dead in M’singh
A teenager was found dead in Mymensigh on Thursday, a week after he had gone missing.
On information from locals, police recovered the body of Abu Taher near a river in Borogaon village in Trishal.
On May 24, the 13-year-old went out of his Southkanda village home on a bicycle to visit his maternal uncle’s residence in neighbouring Borogaon area, Trishal police quoted the family as saying.
The family members started searching him on being informed that Taher did not reach his uncle’s home, Officer-in-Charge Md Azizur Rahman told The Daily Star yesterday.
They filed a general diary with the police station on May 27, said the OC.
Taher’s father Nazrul Islam filed a murder case with the police station accusing unnamed persons after the body was recovered. The victim’s bicycle and cellphone were not found, said the police officer.
Police sent the body to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Taher was an eighth-grader at local RG High School. His father is a textile mill worker, the OC said.
In Kishoreganj, a man was hacked to death allegedly by his father-in-law in the town’s Purbo Tarapasha area on Thursday.
The victim was identified as Omar Faruq, 28, from the town’s Batrish area.
He and his father-in-law Bakker Mia argued over family affairs at the latter’s house, Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abu Bakar Siddiq quoted the family as saying.
At one stage, Bakker started hacking his son-in-law with a long knife, killing him instantly, said the OC.
Omar Faruq’s wife Sharmin Akter filed a case with the police station against her father, who has been on the run since the incident.
