JCD men stage sit-in at Madhur Canteen
A day after being declared unwanted and beaten up by Chhatra League activists, leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) re-entered Dhaka university campus yesterday.
The student body’s DU unit President Al Mehedi Talukder and acting General Secretary Hafizur Rahman along with over 100 Chhatra Dal activists continued their sit-in at Madhur Canteen from 10am to 1pm, said the witnesses.
Leaders and activists of ruling party’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League were also seen at the spot at that time.
On Sunday, four Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal activists were injured in an attack allegedly by Chhatra League and Muktijuddho Moncho activists when some JCD activists were attempting to enter the canteen.
On that day, Muktijuddho Moncho organised a press conference there, protesting a Facebook post by JCD General Secretary Iqbal Hossain Shyamol. The platform alleged that the post went against Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Liberation War.
Apart from declaring the student body “unwanted” on the campus, they also urged the government to ban BNP and Jamaat, and their student organisations -- JCD and Shibir.
