Jatrabari cold storage sealed off for storing expired meat

A mobile court yesterday fined a cold storage Tk 50 lakh and sealed it off in the capital's Jatrabari area for storing date-expired meat and fish alongside chemical materials.

It also jailed SB Cold Storage manager Sekendar Ali for one year, said Sarwoer Alam, executive magistrate, who led the drive.

A team of Rab-3 in association with Department of Fisheries and Department of Livestock Service conducted the drive.

Sarwoer said they seized 320 maunds of date-expired buffalo meat imported from India and 245 maunds of fishes.
