Indian external affairs minister due next month

Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will visit Bangladesh next month, most likely on August 20-21.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen described Jaishankar’s forthcoming visit to Bangladesh as a “courtesy trip”.

While talking to a small group of reporters at his office yesterday, the foreign minister said the Indian external affairs minister has already accepted his invitation to visit Bangladesh.

Momen said he will perform hajj this year and is likely to remain abroad from August 5 to 17.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali recently met Jaishankar at his office in New Delhi and discussed issues of mutual interest.

During the meeting, Syed Muazzem conveyed the Bangladesh foreign minister’s invitation to his Indian counterpart to visit Bangladesh.
