India-Bangladesh relations going through ‘golden period’

Says Sushma Swaraj

Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj stated her satisfaction and said that Bangladesh-India bilateral relations are going through a “golden period”, and this has become possible due to the statesmanship of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

In a letter to her counterpart, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Swaraj said that trust and partnership are the bedrock of understanding between India and Bangladesh, and this partnership is expanding further.

The new High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das handed over the letter of Indian External Affairs Minister to the Bangladesh Foreign Minister when she called on Momen at her office yesterday, according to a foreign ministry press release.

During the visit, the Bangladesh Foreign Minister and Indian High Commissioner discussed a wide range of bilateral issues and hoped that the current ties between the two countries would deepen further.

Foreign Minister Momen said the relationship between Bangladesh and India is historical and the two countries have resolved complex and big issues, such as land and maritime boundaries, through discussion.
