Gonoforum names central advisory body
Gonoforum yesterday announced its 71-member central advisory committee, excluding two of its founding leaders Subrata Chowdhury and Mostafa Mohsin Montu.
Dr Kamal Hossain remains president of the new committee, while Reza Kibria was made general secretary, according to a press release sent by the political party yesterday.
Subrata Chowhdury was the executive president of the previous committee. Abu Sayeed, another executive committee member, was also dropped from the new committee.
Reza Kibria joined Gonoforum before the last parliamentary election held on December 30, 2018. At the time of his joining, Mostafa Mohsin Montu was general secretary of the party.
In April last year at the party's special council, Reza Kibria was made general secretary of the party and Montu was made central executive committee member.
However, Montu did not get any post in the new central executive committee.
Former Awami League leader Abu Sayeed joined the party before the last parliamentary election and was made the executive president of the party at the special council held last April.
"The party is held hostage by some wicked people. Dr Kamal Hossain was misguided," Subrata told The Daily Star.
He also said they have already called an extended meeting of the party on Saturday at the Gonoforum central office, to assess the current situation and devise the next course of action.
Contacted, Montu said the party is "infected with virus" and Dr Kamal Hossain is losing his credibility.
"Suddenly the central committee was dissolved and suddenly the advisory committee was announced without consulting with the central committee. It is unexpected in the 26-year history of the party," Montu said.
