Father killed by son in Ctg

A 50-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his son as the father did not give him money for drugs in Kotwali area of Chattogram city on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Ranjan Barua, hailing from Kazir Dewri area of the city. His son Robin Barua, 25, was arrested in this connection, said police.

Md Kamruzzaman, inspector (investigation) of Kotwali Police Station said Robin demanded money from his father to buy drugs, but Ranjan could not provide the money and threatened to hand Robin over to police. Robin became angry and stabbed his father leaving him dead on the spot at 5am on Sunday, he added.

Victim’s brother Sonjoy Barua filed a case accusing his nephew, police said.

A neighbour of Ranjan alleged that Robin has been addicted to yaba for 5-6 years. A few years ago, Robin's mother died and he became more dependent on the drug.
