Eighth-grader found dead in N’ganj
The body of an eighth-grader was recovered yesterday from a ship anchored in port area of Narayanganj city, around 24 hours after he went missing.
Deceased Ritul Ghosh, 14, was son of Dulal Ghosh and a student in Bidyaniketon High School.
the fire service handed over the body to police after recovering it around noon from a ship named MV Sajal-Tanmoy 2, anchored at port-5 of the city, said Md Abdullah Al Arefin, sub-assistant director of Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence.
On information from the family, police arrested four of Ritul’s friends on Friday night with whom he had gone to bathe in the river Shitalakhya earlier in the day, said Kamrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station.
Ritul went missing while the friends were playfully diving into the river from a ship. They couldn’t inform anyone out of fear, he said quoting the detainees.
The body was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy and legal measures will be taken accordingly, said the OC.
