Ctg’s unique touch to Pahela Baishakh
People of the port city celebrated Pahela Baishakh amidst much enthusiasm and festivity on Sunday.
The celebration of the Bangla New Year started in Chattogram city with a classical rendition of Raga Bhoirabi by the artistes of Suchi Angan Bangladesh around 6am at DC Hill premises.
The festival-goers thronged Baishakhi Mela, one of the main features of the celebration, and enjoyed outdoor programmes and traditional food items.
People enjoyed games like ha-du-du and bou-chi, recitations, classical songs and much more across different areas in the city.
The Mongol Shobhajatra was brought out by the Institute of Fine Arts, Chittagong University at around 10am in the city.
A wrestling (Boli Khela) show was held at CRB area where Badshah Boli of Chakaria in Cox’s Bazar and Shahjahan Boli of Cumilla became the champion jointly as none of them could beat each other in the 7:14 minutes battle in the final round.
