BU students to bring out procession, transport workers suspend programmes for three days

Agitating students of Barishal University (BU) will bring out a procession this afternoon protesting attack on them allegedly by a group of transport workers on February 17, that left at least 25 students injured.

BU Students will announce new programmes in the evening following the procession, said one of the protesters Mahamudul Islam Tomal.

However, a group of students have informed that they will not block roads for the next three days considering the upcoming event of Pir Charmonai.

On the other hand, Kawsar Hosen Shipon, president of Barishal-Patuakhali Minibus Owners' Association, has said that transport workers have suspended their programmes till Wednesday due to the same ceremony.

Meanwhile, some of the BU students residing in the private hostels at Rupatoli area, where the attack took place on February 17, have taken shelter in campus fearing further attacks. They have urged the authorities to ensure their safety.
