Bringing Baishakhi colours to the streets
DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and noted media personality Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated this year's Berger Alponay Baishakh event on Saturday night at Manik Mia Avenue. The event took place concurrently at four other cities -- Chattogram, Bogura, Sylhet and Khulna, according to a press release.
A total of 800 artists were involved in the activity, with 400 alone participating in Dhaka's 3,00,000 square feet alpona. In other cities, the painted area spanned from 40,000-60,000 square feet.
Renowned artists Mohammad Moniruzzaman along with Sheikh Moniruzzaman Liton led the event at Manik Mia Avenue.
This was the seventh instalment of the event, initiated by Asiatic Experiential Marketing Ltd to honour Bangladesh's colourful traditions.
