Barapukuria Case: Hearing adjourned till May 2
A Dhaka court yesterday adjourned until May 2 the hearing of Barapukuria coalmine graft case as BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was not produced before it due to illness.
Khaleda is now under treatment in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, said Senior Jail Superintendent Iqbal Kabir.
As she was not produced, Judge ASM Ruhul Imran of the Special Judge Court-2 of Dhaka adjourned the hearing of charge framing against Khaleda and 8 others.
Another accused Barrister Aminul Haque is now on life-support in United Hospital. Seven other accused, currently on bail, were present at Bakshibazar makeshift court.
On October 5, 2008, ACC pressed charges against Khaleda and 15 others in the graft case.
ACC filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station accusing 16 people including Khaleda and ten of her former cabinet colleagues, of taking Tk 159 crore in kickbacks on the Barapukuria coal mine deal.
