AL leaders joining Oikyafront 'ingested poison willingly'
Awami League (AL) will unveil its election manifesto by December 15, party General Secretary Obaidul Quader said yesterday.
The plan to transform villages into townships will get priority when incorporating development programmes in the manifesto, Quader said while talking to reporters at the party president's Dhanmondi office, reports UNB.
Focusing on various achievements of the present government, Obaidul said, “Though BNP was in power for an extended period, it could not accomplish any mega project. Instead, the country had fallen behind during its [BNP's] rule for lack of foresight.”
Quader hoped that the AL manifesto will earn the support of the people.
“Awami League won't flee the country, whether it remains in power or not... we'll be active in politics for the people of the country,” he added.
Quader said his party never abused power and that it has the courage to learn from mistakes.
Asked about the party's leaders who joined Jatiya Oikyafront, Quader said those AL leaders have “ingested poison willingly” as they joined hands with communal forces.
Replying to a query about the party's nomination, he said AL is yet to finalise its nominated candidates.
