ACC introduces ‘idea box’
In a bid to expedite trial and ensure punishment for the corrupt, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has introduced an “idea box” where people from all walks of life can share opinions and suggestions over the matter.
ACC took the decision of seeking public opinion about its ongoing activities to make its anti-corruption endeavours more successful, said ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya.
The commission took the decision at a recent meeting, the public relations officer added.
Pranab said ACC has prepared a diagram with four categories: current activities, implementation process, areas of improvement and recommendations.
“It will be found on ACC’s Facebook page. We’ll also make it public through newspaper advertisement,” he said.
People can also share their opinions through mail, e-mail and their hotline 106, he added.
Meanwhile, ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood yesterday said the commission is working to get rid of public harassment and irregularities in government services and bring a systematic change in this regard.
He also said the government is conducting multidimensional activities under its social safety net programme for the development of rural people. “It is unfortunate that in many cases corruption mars those activities,” said the ACC chairman.
The ACC chief was speaking at a meeting with Danilo Rizzi, programme officer of regional section for South Asia, East Asia and Pacific Division of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, at ACC headquarters in Segunbagicha.
Danilo praised ACC’s role in fighting corruption.
