50 Rohingyas sent back to camp from Ctg
Police detained a total of 50 Rohingyas during a drive in port city’s Kazir Dewri area early yesterday.
They were sent back to their camp in Cox’s Bazar with police protection the same day.
The Rohingyas came to Chattogram to seek alms and zakat ahead of Eid, said Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.
Of them, eight are male, 14 female and 28 children, he added.
The OC said on information, police conducted the drive and detained them from footpaths.
During interrogation at the police station, the Rohingyas said they fled the Cox’s Bazar camp and came to the city in groups around a week ago, said OC Mohsin.
“Some of the Rohingyas also came here last year and encouraged others to do so this time around,” he said.
