12 killed, 48 hurt
Twelve people were killed and 48 others injured in road accidents across the country yesterday.
Jannatul Mawa Isa, a primary education completion (PEC) examinee, was killed in Patiya upazila after being hit by a minibus while she and her mother were waiting for a vehicle to go to an exam centre, said Arafatul Islam, a witness.
Arafat rushed her to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where she was declared dead, said CMCH police.
Earlier on November 19, Sumona Akter, 11, a PEC candidate, died in a road accident on her way to an exam centre in the city.
In the port city's Bandar area, a bus hit RMG worker Meherun Begum, 26, leaving her dead yesterday.
Two bikers were killed as their motorcycle was hit by a lorry in Paindong area of Fatikchhari.
Their identities could not be ascertained immediately, said police.
Two people were killed and 20 others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a bus on Natore-Pabna highway in Gunaihati area, our Natore correspondent reports.
The injured were rushed to Natore Sadar Hospital and local clinics.
A motorcyclist was killed and two co-riders were injured as a microbus hit their bike on Banglabandha-Panchagarh highway in Majhipara village of Tentulia upazila, reports our Thakurgaon correspondent.
Rabiul Islam, 24, died instantly. His five-year-old son Biyozid and cousin Munni Akhter were undergoing treatment at Panchagarh Sadar Hospital.
