CU doctor sent on forced leave

The Chittagong University (CU) authorities yesterday sent the doctor of CU medical centre, who was accused of groping a female student during check-up on Friday night, into forced leave to ensure fair investigation into the allegation.

CU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury said his leave would remain effective until the investigation completes. Meanwhile, around three hundred students brought out a procession before the Shaheed Minar on the campus to press home their four-point demand including removal of the doctor and presence of a full-time female doctor at the medical centre.

The accused doctor said he took permission from the student before checking her lower abdomen where she had pain.
