BRTC bus driver charged
Police yesterday pressed charges against a BRTC bus driver in connection with a case filed over the death of Rozina Akhter, who lost her leg in a road accident in Dhaka on April 20.
Sub-inspector (SI) Sheikh Mizanur Rahman of Banani Police Station, also investigation officer (IO) of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, against Shafiqul Islam.
Rozina, who worked as a domestic help, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on April 29.
Following her death, a case was filed against driver Shafiqul Islam with Banani Police Station.
Police then arrested the driver but he was later released on bail.
On April 20, a BRTC bus ran her over in Banani in the capital around 8:30am.
She was taken to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor) and later shifted to DMCH on April 25 where she died on April 29.
