BNP reschedules rally to Saturday
BNP rescheduled its protest rally for Saturday, as the party was denied from holding the programme yesterday in front of its Nayapaltan central office.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the revised schedule of their programme at a press conference at the party central office.
“Police did not give us permission to stage our today's (Thursday) protest programme in the capital showing various excuses. So, we are rescheduling it for Saturday,” Rizvi said.
As part of the party's countrywide programme, BNP was scheduled to hold the rally in front of its central office yesterday, protesting the Supreme Court order upholding its stay on the bail granted by the High Court to Khaleda Zia in a murder case filed in Comilla.
Rizvi said BNP leaders and activists will also observe a token hunger strike on July 9 from 9:00am to 4:00pm all over the country, including Dhaka, demanding Khaleda's release from jail and better medical treatment for her.
A large number of police personnel were deployed around the BNP office since yesterday morning, over the party's programme.
