Sonargaon's iftar treats
RESTAURANTS, lounges, fast food joints and all kinds of eateries have geared up in the month of Ramadan to cater to food lovers looking for scrumptious iftar deals. And five star hotels are no exceptions.
Welcome to Café Bazaar, an exclusive restaurant on the ground floor of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka. For a five star iftar hangout -- both through food and through service -- Café Bazaar will not let you down.
The all day dining restaurant of the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka is offering a delicious iftar buffet from the first day of Ramadan with a wide selection of nourishing dishes. For Tk.2200, one can enjoy a variety of middle-eastern themes for your savouring.
From refreshing drinks such as 'shorbots', lassi and fresh fruit juice through delicacies like beef croquette, chicken wings with BBQ sauce, mutton kebab, etc to enchanting middle eastern and 'deshi' desserts like 'bakhlava' and 'rosh malai' respectively, the buffet line-up is indeed enticing. The chef's special includes breaded deep fried chicken wings, beef tikka kebab, spicy chicken tikka, lamb meatball with tomato sauce, etc.
The buffet menu will be changed often, but a focus on middle-eastern cuisines can be found with consistency. Another constant theme or cuisine would be the traditional Bengali items for iftar such as piaju, chola, beguni et al -- of course, with the Café Bazaar exclusiveness and a high standard is maintained.
Halim and jilapi are two other items without which we usually do not feel fully satisfied. The buffet in Café Bazaar includes the two.
"Our halim and jilapi are undoubtedly among the best in town. They are hugely popular, partly owing to the very high standards of the quality of ingredients," informed Salman Kabir, the public relations manager of the hotel. "The jilapi is fried with ghee, which adds to the beautiful essence." The restaurant makes chicken and mutton halim dishes.
Just beside the restaurant, there is a small makeshift hut selling these two items for takeaways. The halim prices range between Tk.1050 and Tk.1850, depending on your size preferences. Jilapi comes with price tags ranging from Tk.600 to Tk.1100. The restaurant also has iIftar box parcels' starting from Tk.1600.
For relatively bigger corporate programmes or family parties, Pan Pacific Sonargaon is ready to cater exclusive iftar banquet events.
