Local administration, under the supervision of army, is working on preparing at least 10 establishments at different places in Chattogram to ensure safe quarantine of around 4,000 Bangladeshis likely to return home from abroad through the port city within the current month.
Around 4,000 people including those stranded for treatment in India are expected to return to Chattogram from different Middle Eastern countries by April, Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Md Elias Hossen told our correspondent.
"We are preparing at least 10 establishments like hotels and training centres of different institutes in the city for ensuring safe quarantine of the returnees," DC Elias Hossen said.
While talking to The Daily Star, Chattogram Civil Surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said that there will be five medical teams for health checkups of the returnees.
"We will arrange isolation facilities if any of the returnees has fever, before sending them to quarantine," the civil surgeon said.
Meanwhile, the district administration has already acquired a 200-bed hotel of the National Maritime Institute in the port city to make the effort a success, he said.
A team of army personnel has already inspected the hotel and expressed their satisfaction, the government official added.
