Carew and Co plan to ramp up sanitiser production, distribute all over country
Carew and Co Limited, the country's only state-owned distillery, started making hand sanitisers in response to a growing demand for hygiene products due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The company has so far produced 10,000 litres of the product worth Tk 50 lakh in just the last eight days, reports our Kushtia correspondent.
Starting production in March 24, the company has so far supplied the sanitisers to different government agencies and offices.
Each day 1,000 to 1,500 liters of hand sanitiser is produced and packed in both small bottles and bulk packaging.
Prices of the 100ml bottles are Tk 50 at wholesale prices and retailers can sell them for Tk 60.
The managing director of Carew and Co, Jahid Ali Ansary, who initiated the production, says the demand keeps growing and they are planning to expand.
Ansary further said they want to ramp up production to ensure steady supply and eventually start distribution all over the country.
