Banks asked to keep some branches open
The central bank today instructed banks to keep open certain number of their branches during the seven-day restrictions on movement starting from tomorrow.
Clients will be allowed to do banking from 10am to 1pm on regular working days and the branches will have to be closed within 2.30pm after completing the relevant works by bankers.
All authorised dealer (AD) branches across the country involved in doing overseas banking, including exports and imports, will have to be remained open during the restrictions.
If any AD branch is not available in a radius of two kilometres in city corporation areas, a non-AD branch, which is dedicated to operate general banking, will have to be kept open.
Banks will have to open their main branches located at every district town.
Branches at upazila levels will have to be kept opened three working days – Sunday, Tuesday and Saturday.
Banks will have to inform their clients about the closure of the branches by displaying an announcement in front of the outlets such that clients can easily notice the message.
The announcement will inform clients to do banking to the nearest branches, which are open.
