BFF seeks Japan's help
The Japan government wants to help the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) under the 'Sports for Tomorrow' programme, designed for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
During a bilateral summit in May, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had held a meeting with her Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe, who wished to extend his help Bangladesh's football development by providing training for national football coaches.
In this regard, Yoshitaka Sakurada, Japan's Senior Vice Minister for Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, held a meeting with state minister for youth and sports Biren Shikdar, deputy sports minister Arif Khan, secretary Nur Muhammad and BFF president Kazi Salahuddin at the Ministry for Youth and Sports yesterday.
“Today I was just introduced to their minister. I am going to meet the president of the Japan Football Association on September 4 and I can talk about what kind of support they will provide us after the discussion,” said Kazi Salahuddin, “But I wish my young players can get an opportunity to train at their academy. Besides, I would also like to have Japanese coach for the youth team and especially for the women's team as Japan are the reigning world champions in women's football.”
