Bailey bridge collapse in Rangamati: 3 killed as truck falls into water

Three persons drowned as a stone-carrying truck fell into a stream (chhora) after a bailey bridge collapsed in Rangamati Sadar upazila this morning. 

One of the deceased was identified as truck driver Md Arafat, reports our Rangamati correspondent.

Witnesses said a truck from Ranirhat in Chattogram was crossing the bridge at Kutubchhari around 6:30am when the bridge collapsed and the vehicle plunged into Mahapurom stream.

Contacted, Assistant Director of Rangamati Fire Service Ratan Kumar Nath said after receiving information, he along with a rescue team rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies after an hour of frantic efforts.

Member of Bangladesh Army and locals also joined them.
