Five held over murder of madrasa boy
Police yesterday detained five men in connection with the death of a 10-year-old madrasa student at Alamdanga upazila in Chuadanga yesterday.
Earlier on the day, the law enforcers recovered the beheaded body of Abir Hossain, a student of Nurani section (grade-II) at Kairadanga Nurani Hafejia Madrassa and Yatimkhana in Alamdanga.
Abir, of Jhenidah’s Kaliganj upazila, who enrolled to the madrasa six months ago, went missing from the madrasa dormitory on Tuesday night. Later, locals found his body early yesterday, said police.
On information, police went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Chuadanga General Hospital morgue for autopsy, the law enforcers added.
Munshi Asadauzzman, officer-in-charge of Alamdanga Police Station, said the body was found in an abandoned brick kiln around 7:30am.
The madrasa authorities and students recognised the body immediately, he said, adding police detained five men for quizzing.
He, however, did not disclose the identification of the detainees for the sake of investigation.
Mahbubur Rahman, superintendent of Chuadanga police, said doctors of Chuadanga General Hospital primarily found evidence of rape on the body.
The evidences were sent to CID headquarters in Dhaka for further tests, he added.
