7 more lives lost in two road crashes
Seven people were killed and three others injured in two road accidents in Lalmonirhat and Pabna yesterday.
In Lalmonirhat, four people, including three of a family, were killed when a bus collided head-on with a car in Raypur RDRS Bazar area on Kurigram-Rangpur highway yesterday morning.
Witnesses said the car heading towards Kurigram collided with the bus leaving Kurigram.
The unidentified driver of the car died on the spot.
There were six others in the car and all of them were rescued in a critical condition. They were taken to Kurigram General Hospital where doctors declared Billal Hossain, 25, dead.
Billal's parents Muzibur Rahman, 55, and Bilkis Begum, 45, died at the hospital later.
Dr Meherul Islam at the hospital said the condition of one of the injured was critical and he could be moved to Rangpur for better treatment.
Quoting the injured, the doctor said the people in the car were going to Ulipur upazila of Kurigram from Narsingdi.
In Pabna's Sujanagar upazila, three people were killed when a bus hit a three-wheeler on Dhaka-Pabna highway early yesterday.The victims are three-wheeler driver Ilias Hossain, 47, Harun Miah, 24, and Sohel Rana, 16.
Inspector of Madhpur Highway Police Station Ali Reza said the accident happened around 12:30am when the bus heading for Dhaka hit the three-wheeler which was crossing the road in Chinakhora Bazar area.
Ilias died on the spot while the other two died in Pabna Medical College Hospital yesterday morning.
Police seized the bus but its driver managed to flee.
