21 more die, 1,637 infected with Covid-19
Twenty-one people have died from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours till 8:00am yesterday, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services.
With this, the total number of deaths to Covid-19 rose to 5,681, which is 1.46 percent of all confirmed cases in the country since March 8 this year.
In the same period, a total of 1,637 people tested positive for the virus taking the total number of confirmed cases to 3,90,206, added the release.
With this, Bangladesh is currently 17th on the list of worst affected countries in the world in terms of the total number of conformed cases.
The country's position is one step behind Italy and one step ahead of Germany, according to worldometers.info.
The positivity rate of the 15,146 samples tested yesterday was 10.81 percent.
With this, the overall positivity rate stands at 17.91 percent.
Meanwhile, a total of 1,627 patients have recovered raising, the total number of recoveries to 3,05,599 in the country, with the recovery rate now at more than 78 percent.
Among the 21 deceased yesterday, 14 were male and seven were female.
One was aged under 10, while one was between 31 and 40, one between 41 and 50, five between 51 and 60 and 13 above 60, added the release.
