11-year-old girl ‘raped’ in Savar
Police yesterday arrested a man for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl in Savar on the outskirt of the capital.
Tushar Kha, 26, is a day labourer and a neighbour of the victim’s family, said Bodruzzaman, sub-inspector of Ashulia Police Station.
Tushar entered the girl’s house around 10:30pm on Sunday while no one else was there, the SI said, adding that the matter came to light when her parents returned home after a while.
Later, the girl’s father filed a case with the police station accusing Tushar, he added.
The girl was sent to the One-Stop Crisis Centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the SI said.
Meanwhile, a police team of the same police station yesterday arrested a madrasa teacher for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old boy from Tenguri area in Ashulia.
Arif Billah, 30, a teacher of Tenguri Madrasa, was arrested following a case filed by the victim’s family, said Javed Masud, inspector (investigation) of Ashulia Police Station.
Both arrestees were produced before a Dhaka Court with a remand prayer of seven days for each.
