Global Summit of Women: PM flies to Australia today
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to leave for her 4-day tour to Australia this afternoon to attend the 2018 Global Summit of Women where she will be honoured with the prestigious Global Women's Leadership Award-2018.
The Prime Minister will also hold several meetings including meetings with Australian Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop and Vietnam's Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh during her stay in Sydney.
The PM leads a 75-member delegation comprising of Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki, 12 officials from the PMO, five Awami League leaders, seven foreign ministry officials, 22 security personnel, 16 press and media persons and 10 businessmen.
According to her programme schedule, the prime minister will leave Dhaka by a Thai Airways Flight at 1:35pm today and have a two hour transit break in Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok where Thai Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office of Royal Thai government and Bangladesh Ambassador in Bangkok Saida Muna Tasneem will receive her at the airport.
She will then fly for Australia by another Thai Airways flight at 7:20pm (Thai time) reaching Sydney Friday morning.
Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop will call on the Bangladesh Prime Minister tomorrow morning at the bilateral meeting room of the Intercontinental Sydney Hotel, where Hasina will be staying during her visit. Vietnam's Vice President will also meet the Bangladesh Prime Minister at the same venue tomorrow noon.
PM Sheikh Hasina will receive the Global Women's Leadership Award-2018 tomorrow evening at a ceremony at International Convention Centre (ICC). Washington- based Global Summit of Women is awarding the prime minister for her outstanding leadership in women's education and entrepreneurship in Bangladesh.
On Saturday, the premier will visit Western Sydney University in the morning and hold bilateral talks with her Australian counterpart Malcom Turnbull at 3:00pm local time at his residence.
In the evening she will exchange views with expatriate Bangladeshis in Sydney.
Sheikh Hasina will depart Australia at 4:00pm Sunday by a Thai Airways flight and reach Dhaka on Monday at 00:50am.
