Sangsad Nattya Utsab concludes in Savar
A 10-day Sangsad Nattya Utsab-2015 concluded in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital on Wednesday night. Held at Enam Medical College Hospital auditorium the event came to an end with a call to protest against militancy through theatre.
AAMS Arefin Siddique, Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University was the chief guest at the concluding programme, where Ramendra Majumdar, honorary president of International Theatre Institute was the special guest. Liaquat Ali Lucky, chairman of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation also director of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy chaired the programme.
A number of other noted personalities, including Dr. Md. Abul Hossain, pro Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University, Akteruzzaman, secretary general of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation, Ahmed Gias, member secretary Sangsad Nattya Utsab, Azmol Amin, president of Jagoroni Theatre and secretary Soron Saha were present.
The theatre festival began on December 14 where a total of 10 plays were performed: “Kalo Ratri” staged by Padatik Natya Sangsad TSC; “Nokshi Kathar Matth” staged by Bunan Theatre; “Bhager Manush” by Somoy; “Informer” by Shobdo Natya Charcha Kendra; “Mohajoner Nao” by Subachan Nattya Sangsad; “Court Martial” by Theatre Art Unit; “Nikhai” by Theatre (Arambag); “Circus Circus” by Prachyanat; “Samonto Nothi” by Niravoron Theatre and “Chitto Binimoy” by Jagoroni Theatre.
This was the first time a theatre fest was held for the 25-lakh strong population of Savar, said the organisers.
