Warfaze scoring a film for the first time

Legendary rock band Warfaze will be making their debut in cinema by scoring the title song for the film Girgiti.

"In our 36-year journey, we have been offered to work on film scores multiple times. However, it never actually happened until now." shares Sheikh Monirul Alam Tipu, drummer and the band leader.

"We loved the concept and storyline of Girgiti, and felt that this could be the film we want to work for." The composition of the track is still in the works, informs the drummer.

The film Girgiti has completed shooting of its first half in the beginning of this year. Due to the pandemic, the project was halted, which is expected to be resumed in the first week of December.

Girgiti is a crime thriller suspense that features ABM Sumon and Takseen Rahman.

The Sourav Kundu directorial film will introduce promising actor Purnima Brishti in her silver screen debut. Shatabdi Wadud and Shilpi Sarkar Opu will also be seen in this movie.

"Since this is my debut directorial project, I am trying to bring out the best, and I am grateful to have a supportive team," shares the director, who was one of the assistant directors in the film Dhaka Attack (2017).

Under the banner of UPStudio, the film is expected to release in April 2021. "The film is very special for us because we had started weaving the story with our friends while studying at BUET," asserts Hamidul Hasan Nabin, CEO of UPStudio.

The screenplay is written by Shahjahan Shourov, while the script is by Sohel Rana. Cinematography will be handled by Nayem Fuad.

Girgiti is set in four locations -- Old Dhaka, Mymensingh, Munshiganj and Manikganj. Emon Chowdhury from Chirkutt will score the rest of the music for the film.
