IGCC to celebrate Tagore’s birth anniversary tomorrow
Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC), High Commission of India, Dhaka, is organising the webinar, Tribute to Rabindranath Tagore- A ray of hope through Tagore's Philosophy, on the occasion of the 159th birth anniversary of Kabiguru Rabindra Tagore on May 8.
Smt Riva Ganguly Das, Honourable High Commissioner of India, Dhaka, will deliver the welcome remarks at the event. ICCR President and reputed Indian scholar and columnist Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe will grace the occasion as the keynote speaker.
Renowned Bangladeshi academic, writer and translator Fakrul Alam, Vice Chancellor of Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, India, Professor Dr Bidyut Chakrabarty, reputed essayist, researcher and the vice chancellor of Rabindra University, Bangladesh, Dr Biswajit Ghosh and renowned Indian writer, critic and translator Professor Radha Chakravarty will attend the webinar as guests speakers.
The programme includes documentary screening, live songs performance, poetry recitation and presentation of a webinar on Tagore.
The webcast of several documentaries on Rabindranath Tagore, produced by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, will be screened on the page. They include 'Colours of Dreams' at 9 am, 'In the land of Chinnopatra' at 2 pm, 'The story of Gitanjali' (in Bengali) at 3 pm and 'The story of Gitanjali' (in English) at 9 pm in Bangladesh.
The webcast of the musical, titled 'Tribute to Rabindranath through Songs', by eminent singer Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, will follow. Renowned Tagore songs exponents -- Laisa Ahmed Lisa, Aditi Mohsin, Shama Rahmn and Lily Islam will perform songs at 5 pm.
The webcast of 'Tribute to Rabindranath through Recitation' by elocutionists Bhaswar Banerjee, Shahadat Hossain Nipu and Samiul Islam Poluck will take place at 6 pm, while a presentation of the webinar on the theme 'Tribute to Rabindranath Tagore: A ray of hope through Tagore's philosophy' will be held at 7:30 pm.
