Film director Aftab Khan Tulu passes away
Acclaimed film director and Bangladesh Film Directors' Association member Aftab Khan Tulu passed away today at 66 in Dhaka's Labaid Hospital, due to complications from COVID-19. Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, President of Bangladesh Film Directors' Association and Bodiul Alam Khokhon, General Secretary of the association, informed The Daily Star about the director's demise.
In 1987, Aftab Khan directed his first film, Dayi Ke, featuring Ilias Kanchan and Anju Ghosh. The film went on to win the National Award in several categories.
Shakib Khan's first film, Shobai Toh Shukhi Hote Chay, was also directed by Aftab Khan. His other notable works include Bhalobasha Bhalobasha, Shotiputro Abdullah and Ful Ar Kanta, among others.
He has left behind his wife and children. His namaz-e-janaza was held after the Asr prayers today. He will be laid to rest at the Rayerbazar graveyard.
