Cyberbully who attacked actor Bhabna on Mother’s Day apologises on Facebook
The entertainment industry took a stand against cyberbullying when actors Chanchal Chowdhury and Ashna Habib Bhabna were attacked after posting pictures with their mothers.
While Chanchal was harassed because some miscreants "discovered" his religious identity, Bhabna was attacked for her attire with obnoxious and offensive comments.
Mohammad Nasib Rahat, a student, posted a video on his Facebook account yesterday, apologising for posting such comments under Bhabna's post. "This is a cybercrime, and I am deeply sorry for this," he said, urging all to refrain from cyberbullying in future.
Bhabna, who has faced cyberbullying frequently, filed a complaint with Cyber Security Division. "It saddens me immensely that I have to face such offensive comments about me and my family," she said, crediting Actors' Equity President Shahiduzzaman Selim for helping her in filing the case.
The actor said that society needs to be vocal against these incidents. "I am glad that this person was made to apologise on their personal profile, it will make others who post similar comments think twice," she said.
The "Bhoyonkor Shundor", "Eka", "Borosha" and "Fera" famed actor hoped that celebrities and netizens alike will participate actively in helping curb cyberbullying. "Everyone should take a stand against these crimes. Please defend anyone you see who is suffering from cyberbullying; this has to stop."
