Ansar man gunned down in city
Unidentified miscreants shot dead an ansar member in Moghbazar area of the capital early today.
None was arrested in this connection.
Victim Abdul Alim, 28, was on duty with three of his fellows in front of the T&T Colony gate when the incident occurred around 12:45am, said Mashiur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ramna Police Station.
A group of four to five miscreants wearing helmets went there by two rickshaws and opened fire on the ansar personnel without any provocation, the OC said.
Alim received a bullet in his chest when the miscreants fired at least five bullets for creating panic in the area, said Shiblee Noman, assistant commissioner of police (Ramna Zone).
Police suspected that the miscreants had no enmity with Alim, AC Noman added.
Two colleagues of Alim had firearms but they did not get the opportunity to retaliate as the criminals left the scene hurriedly, the OC said.
Shortly after the incident Alim was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where doctors pronounced him dead around 1:15am.
The body was kept at the morgue of the DMCH.
