5.6kg gold seized at Dhaka airport
Customs officials seized 48 gold bars weighing about 5.6 kilograms from a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital early today.
Assistant Commissioner (Customs) at the airport Ruhul Amin told UNB that the bars were recovered from BG 046 flight, which landed from Dubai around 2:45am.
Tipped off, the customs officials along with other intelligence members conducted a search in the aircraft around 3:15am and recovered the gold wrapped in a black cloth at its cargo hall, said Ruhul Amin.
However, none was arrested in this connection.
The seized gold was said to be worth Tk 2.50 crore.
