2 cops hurt as muggers hurl bomb in Old Dhaka
Two police personnel were injured when muggers after being chased by law enforcers charged a hand bomb near Lalbagh Fort in Old Dhaka early today.
The injured policemen are: Assistant Sub-inspector Fayez, 36, and constable Abul Kalam, 37, of Lalbagh Police Station.
After the attack, locals managed to catch one of the muggers and gave them a good beating. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) under police custody.
The muggers hurled a crude bomb when a team of Lalbagh police chased them following their suspicious movement around 5:30am, said SI Monir Hossain of DMCH outpost.
The two law enforcers received splinter injuries during the attack, the SI said.
After receiving primary treatment at DMCH, they were shifted to Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital.
