14-party to hold mass procession Feb 20

In protest against the countrywide ongoing violence, the ruling Awami League-led 14-party combine will hold mass processions across the country on February 20.

In Dhaka, the mass processions will start from Bangabandhu Avenue around 4:00pm and end at Shikha Chirantan in Suhrawardy Uddyan, said Health Minister Mohammad Nasim, a spokesperson for the combine.

The minister came up with the announcement at a briefing at AL chief’s Dhanmondi office in Dhaka this afternoon.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, who presided over the briefing, has brushed aside different quarters’ suggestions for holding a dialogue with opposition BNP.

Meanwhile, the alliance is scheduled to hold a rally in Rajshahi city on February 23 protesting the recent atrocities carried out by BNP and its allies including Jamaat-e-Islami.
