138 made OSD, 5 sent to forced retirement

After assuming power nine months ago, the Sheikh Hasina-led government has sent five officials on forced retirement and made 138 others, including a secretary, officers on special duty (OSD).
Reading out scripted replies to lawmakers' queries in parliament, State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadeq also informed that the retirement figure during the five-year tenure of the BNP-Jamaat administration since 2001 was 42.
An OSD has no other duty except attending office and signing the attendance register. He or she gets salary and other benefits, excluding transport allowance.
Ismat, without elaborating, said of the 138, one was a secretary, 14 additional secretaries, 41 joint secretaries, 22

deputy secretaries, 50 senior assistant secretaries and 10 assistant secretaries.

She also did not explain why the five were sent on forced retirement.

She said the draft of the amended “public service act-2014” was placed before the administrative development related “Secretary Committee” for consideration and approval.
