Short panjabis are particularly well suited for the thin and the lean while the long ones are for their taller counterparts. Denim panjabis are the new 'in' thing -- spend a good few minutes in the trial room with these before you make up your mind.
Lastly, to go with your panjabi, pick the appropriate pair of trousers. Not all panjabis go well with jeans (if that's your usual preference).
